And I certainly didn't install any Logitech software. Someone mentioned that they couldn't actually type with the keyboard. Hopefully the bits that needed refurb-ing were in the kb, not in the mouse! But I am so grateful for a MX-700 replacement.

Since I only bought it for the mouse, I don't know if I would have ever broken down and bought it for full retail price. I got this thing for about half-off the MSRP because it was refurbished. Oh well, like I said, it's still worth it, just for the mouse.

So I guess I can only use either the mouse OR the keyboard, not both together. When I remove the keyboard from the list of Bluetooth devices, the mouse performed perfectly. Then I figured out that the stuttering only happens when both the MX-1000 mouse and the MX-5000 keyboard are paired with my iMac.

Someone mentioned that the mouse 'stutters.' I noticed this too, at first, and I almost gave up on the whole thing because of it. I have no idea if the dongle works for non-Bluetooth Macs I'll test it on my older Mac sometime though. Since my iMac has Bluetooth built-in, there was no need for me to use the bundled USB dongle. My MX-700 is finally starting to give up the ghost, so I'm so glad to have this MX-1000, which has as many buttons (plus side-scrolling wheel), is more accurate ('Laser MX,' etc.), and doesn't take up a USB port. It's great to have extra buttons for Expose, etc. they don't have as many buttons as say f'rexample, the good old MX-700 cordless, which is awesome. In the last couple of years, Logitech seems to have discontinued their models of cordless mice that had just TONS of buttons. Avoid all Logitech software on the Mac, that's for sure. Everyone should use one of these programs, if only to fix OS X's default mouse acceleration. There's another program called Steermouse that I understand is also popular for this. I just used the excellent shareware program 'USB Overdrive' to customize button settings the way I like 'em. I didn't use any Logitech drivers or the USB dongle. Having said all that about the keyboard, I actually only got this for the mouse. The media playback buttons also work for iTunes playback, though not exactly the same as the iTunes controls (you can skip tracks, but not scan within a track, or at least I couldn't). Plus, the touch-sensitive volume slider works, which is cool. I don't actually use the keyboard, but hey I guess it's a nice bonus to have a wireless keyboard too. This model worth getting just for the Bluetooth mouse.
